[ Troy's mind lets the sensation of her fingers linger in his senses far longer than it should. He wasn't going to complain; he's amazed by her as she continues on to work her magic. ]
From where I was born, not so much. But from where I live now, there's alchemists from all over the lands, coming over to the city to learn from each other. I live in a city that's a hub for trade and knowledge, cultural exchanges happen left and right as various peoples gather and live there. It's a wonderful city, you'd like it there.
[ He spoke with pride, remembering the bustling streets of the city he's sworn to himself to protect. It's a city of humans from where he was born, but thanks to him they started welcoming refugees and anyone who wishes to trade with his own people. ]
As a matter of fact-
[ He pauses, pulling something out of his coat pocket. It's a vial that's caged in decorative pewter, with the flame inside burning continuously. The vessel isn't warm despite the roaring flame it contains. ]
Was thinking of giving to you later, but now seems like a good a time as any. What do you think?
Really? I happen to live on a backwater island where not much really happens, but it's becoming less isolated lately. We've been getting more visitors who have been considering moving in!
[Though she's very curious about where Troy lives herself. The first time that she decided to stay in the city, it was quite a culture shock as a girl who lived in the countryside. Though she managed to live by herself just fine and get by on her own.
But it certainly sounded like there was a lot that she could learn and gain if she came to visit someday. If there's one thing that she appreciated, it's a place that encountered open-mindedness.]
When you put it like that, it makes me wanna take a trip with you one day. More adventuring never hurts in my book!
[If Troy was her tour guide, then she felt that she'd be in good hands. Whenever he takes out the vial, Ryza couldn't hold back her gasp of amazement, It's enough to get her to stop stirring for a moment. That didn't seem like something that you could just carry around so casually!]
Whoa... I-It's beautiful. [A beat.] Uh, what exactly is it? I do work with fire sometimes, but that looks completely different.
[ Troy hands her the vial so she can observe it closer. Taking in the sight of her awe made him blush a little. ]
It's magical fire that can light underwater. Dwarven alchemy from a group of them who visited our city last, coming in from their tropical home to learn from other alchemists. Told me to take one in case I needed to light a bonfire underwater.
[ He says it so casually. The idea of him carrying around potent fire like it's just another thing that goes in pockets. This man fears nothing. ]
Of course, there's a lot more of that where that one came from. I'd be more than happy to show you around our city, even let you stay and learn more for your craft. Maybe even count that as a second date.
For real!? So this is some kind of "eternal fire"! If I ever gotta dive into really dark depths or explore caves underwater, then this could become really useful!
[Ryza couldn't help and beam as her eyes sparkle with amusement. She was able to make Air Drops which allowed her to breath underwater, but this would really help for more exploration.]
Yeah, yeah! I think this could give me more ideas on what kind of things I can make with alchemy. Heck, I could help the people on Kurken Island more with stuff like this.
[In her excitement, his last words don't register until...]
[ He then laughs; hand on his chest and a small nudge from his elbow to her arm. ]
But that wasn't a no~
[ He finishes with a cheeky giggle in the tone of his voice. The delay of her reaction and her wide eyed surprise tickles at his soul. She's quite adorable when she's flustered, and it tempts him to mess with her a little more in the future. ]
[She says this as she gently tap his shin with her foot. And just to hide her embarrassment further, she's going to place the vail down on the table before turning around to continue stirring. It takes just a little more time before the cauldron glows brightly with some smoke... Ryza has to pull back for a second.]
--Ah! It's done! Okay, let's see how it looks.
[Carefully, Ryza pulls out the alchemized object with the big spoon that she was stirring with from the bubbling depths. What's revealed is what Troy had requested to make: A brown leathered wristlet with a short strap. There's going to be two green emerald on both sides of the wristlet to gives it more of a stylish appeal. She'll be placing it down on a cloth where the table's at.]
Be careful, it's still hot... So we should let this cool off for a bit. And it's important to make sure that everything settles in. [...] So what do you think, Troy? Should I make some adjustments to it?
[ That tap of her foot was well-earned. He simmers down and recovers his composure, and it gradually turns to genuine awe. Lips split and brows raised, the pupils of his eyes widen at the process unfolding before him. The bright glow and the smoke make him raise his hand slightly, but lets Ryza pull the object out and set it down on the table. A gasp of awe leaves his lips as he slowly lets his hand hover over the freshly made bracelet. ]
Incredible...
[ He lets slip, taking heed of her warning by only letting his hand feel the heat from it and leave it untouched. ]
In all my years dealing with magic, I've never seen anything like this.
[ The very idea makes him smile, turning his attention back at Ryza with a grateful hum. She has shown him something new, and even if they're just in her atelier, they're already having an adventure. At least he is. Troy gives her a once-over, seeing the pride in the way she stands and how it makes her beauty glow even more alluringly. With a smile he answers: ]
It's beautiful. Wouldn't want it any other way.
[ A double-entendre? Perhaps. ]
Since it's made via magic, does it also come with magical properties?
Heh heh heh~! Of course! I never forget to add magical properties to my alchemized items just in case. Those are all part of the ingredients that were added.
[Rather smugly, Ryza folds her arms with a proud smile. You couldn't be an alchemist without having some confident and a bit of ego in what you do. The bracelet simmers more as the steam leaves it. Meanwhile, she continues to give him a small crash course in what's been added. She's quite an extrovert who enjoyed talking about her work in general.]
If you wear it, then you'll have some curse resistance against dark-type monsters. You won't be completely immune to attacks, but you'll be able to shrug those off more easily compared to not at all.
[There was a reason why she kept that specific type of leather in storage. Even if materials and ingredients look normal on the surface, you had to be able to tell what kind of magical elements came along with it.]
You'll feel more stronger with it too. Though you already look crazy strong from what I can see, so you probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference! [That's what the emeralds were for. Within those gems, there was a good old-fashioned strength boosting stat!] Go on... It's safe to put it on now. Heck, it wants you to put it on.
[Ryza's way of words sounds a little odd there... But once you became a skilled enough alchemist, you could even hear the voices of objects.]
[ It's a well-earned ego as far as he's concerned. Troy's smile is fixed on his face as he continues to let the feeling of awe course through him. She made this for him, and it's already holding a lot of sentimental value to him. Troy listens to her crash course, keeping his eyes on her even as he takes the accessory into his fingers. ]
Don't want to make things too easy now, don't we?
[ He replies regarding how the added effect won't make him immune to dark type attacks. He wonders how this would resonate with his own tattooed resistance to dark magic. A huff of amusement escapes him at her comment about his strength, knowing of his feats in the past. Troy hums as he wears it on his left wrist. He checks out the fit and look of the accessory around his thick wrist. A small blush paints his cheeks before his gaze finds their way back to her. ]
Seems like it. The band is just the right fit.
[ He even shakes his arm a little to demonstrate, a low chuckle rumbles in his throat. The green color of the gems and the leather band complements his complexion. ]
Green is a color I don't get to wear often. Reminds me of a wristwatch I once owned... Thank you, Ryza. I look pretty dashing with it, no?
[ He adds, posing a bit with his pointer and thumb framing his stubbled chin. A small cheeky lift of his brow thrown in for good measure. ]
[Even though he was quite the rugged man, Ryza couldn't help and notice that he blushes rather easily. Guys with bashful sides were always rather cute in her eyes. It made her want to make more items for him if he asked. There was the option to tease him, but she couldn't find an opening for him yet. She'll get him back eventually!]
That's the fun part of alchemy! It's a never ending adventure since I'm always looking for ways to improve on my creations.
[She can even add ingredients to other people's weapons to improve them if necessary. Becoming an alchemist was the perfect role for Ryza as she didn't have to restrict herself to one thing. In a sense, she'd be a jack-of-all-trades who could do whatever she liked with this art.
And the bonus points was seeing people happy and satisfied with what she made. The money was one thing, but being able to help people and make them happy was another. She'll be taking a moment to gently touch the bracelet and his arm as well. Quietly, she was appreciating how muscular it was as she delicately traces his skin with her fingertips. It's quite a contrast with how soft she was...]
Hehe... You sure do! I think it brings out your features quite well... And it's happy to have you as an owner, you know?
[ Troy continues to look at his new accessory, wearing it and observing it with pride. His attention is only distracted by Ryza's touch, which he freely welcomes. It reminds her of their first meeting when he was wearing much less than this. ]
I hope to make it proud, then.
[ And make her proud, too. This is still the start of their date and adventure, so he still has a lot of chances to continue impressing her. He lays his hand on her own while she was still gingerly touching at his arm, looking softly at her with that promise of wisely wearing this object of sentimental value to the both of them. ]
So, what's next?
[ Excitement fuels his tone of voice as he lets go of his hands, but keeps his attention on her. ]
[Next up on the list, huh? Ryza hums to herself as thinks... On one hand, she definitely didn't want to make this boring. But on the other hand, this would be a good opportunity to give Troy a chance to see what she does throughout her day. Personally, she doesn't find her mundane tasks all that interesting compared to alchemy...
But looking for quests always mixes things up! Sometimes, it's the smaller things that blossom into larger ones.]
Uh... Would it be okay if we went into town and looked at the quest board? There's always a request or two that needs fulfilling and it gives me a chance to get more ingredients along the way!
[And now that she thinks about it... She could have Troy meet up with a little friend of hers.]
Oh yeah! I can introduce you to the Spirit Beast! It always gives me a cozy ride whenever I'm pooped out from walking.
[ Seeing her daily activities does interest Troy greatly. It's a window into her life. So upon the suggestion of going to town, Troy eagerly gestures for Ryza to take the lead with the same arm that now has the bracelet she made. ]
Sounds good to me. Lead the way, boss.
[ The mention of the Spirit Beast piques his curiosity, humming in thought ]
Maybe we pick up some treats for this Beast along the way too. Just as a token of appreciation. I mean it eats human food, right?
Ah... It definitely can eat dry biscuits, herbs or grass beans! Even good ol' puniballs would do the trick. Those basically taste like gummy candies, but they have to be eaten quickly since they lose their shape and texture over time.
[She'll be walking out of the atelier at a pace where Troy can follow her, then standing outside... She'll be taking out a bell and ringing it. Then in the distance, there's going to be the sounds of running until the Spirit Beast arrives.]
Heeey! It's good to see you again! [Ryza takes a moment to pat its head and the beast nuzzles her face.] And here's my new friend! His name is Troy... C'mon, he doesn't bite.
[It's up in the air on who she's saying that to, but the beast curiously looks at Troy to size the man up. The beast doesn't smell a suspicious scent... But could it trust him with mama?]

[ Troy's baser instincts couldn't help but shoot Ryza's backside a glance. Even the way she walks appeals to his interests, but he didn't look for too long and follows her out of the atelier. His ears managed to pick up what she said despite the brief distraction, curious about the bell and the effect it had. Troy can't help but smile from the arrival to how it stops for Ryza, reminding him of how dogs are back home. Watching Ryza beam with her usual energy and have this relationship with this Spirit Beast was as good a sight as the one he stole earlier.
When Ryza directs the Beast's attention to him, Troy greets it with the same calm, composed, and open demeanor he does with anyone. With a gentle nod and smile in greeting, he asks, ]
How're you doing?
[ He is curious if it can understand human speech even a little. But Troy approaches the Spirit Beast with a hand reaching out. The same hand that now wears the wristlet Ryza made. ]
I'm Troy. Pleased to meet you.
[ Even if it can't understand the words, making his voice known is a good thing in his experience. ]
[Whenever it comes to her sex appeal, Ryza quite often hung out with boys that never truly hit on her or treated her like a lady before. If anything, she was also regarded as "one of the boys" in her social circles. But she was still a girl who wanted to try and be decent looking... Her mother would always scold her with how dirty she gets after adventures and a certain woman from the Oren clan had shown her that she should really more pay attention to little things like that!
Troy couldn't be blamed for looking at the sway of her hips and her very visable backside. Ever since her first adventure in the city, Ryza has become a little more aware that some people did look at her as a woman. A little woman's intuition told her: "Ah, someone's looking at me like that again." And Troy was the only one here... But this felt really nice. Some mischievous gears begin to turn in her head.
The Spirit Beast leans in to sniff Troy's hand and sniffs the bracelet. Ah, if mama made him something... Then he couldn't be a bad guy! In fact, his scent was quite friendly. The beast gently licks Troy's palm to confirm that he had gotten its approval. Ryza claps her hands together with a little giggle as she was happy to see it making new friends.]
Yaaaay! Looks like it likes you! I think the Spirit Beast can sense if someone has a good soul or a bad one too.
[That's her theory and she felt it made sense. It accepted her and her friends who were all nice and kind people. Therefore, it allowed them to ride on its back. She had yet to meet someone who carried an evil soul, though. That being said, Ryza climbs onto the Spirit Beast's back and she settles in.]
Okay, Troy! Time to hop on! You can hold onto me anywhere you want. ♥
[Her smile and voice is extra sweet as she emphasizes the "anywhere" part. Is she teasing him? Oh, absolutely so.]
[ Troy would have to thank whoever inspired Ryza to take care of her appearance more, but that will have to come later. He would love to meet more of her friends and family, as he is quite already enamored by the Spirit Beast and the way it responded to him. The lick of his hand made him smile, looking at Ryza when she mentioned how the Beast can theoretically sense a good soul. That briefly made him look at the creature in the eyes again, feeling a sense of validation from all the efforts he's been doing to turn over a new leaf.
Thankfully, none of his less fun memories or feelings became the focus of his thoughts, as Ryza got his attention once more. Once she hopped on the Beast's back, she invites him with those teasing words that got his head to flick up to look at her, and with briefly widened eyes like she just said something preposterous. A beat passes and he scoffs into a laugh as he tries not look like she caught him off guard, stealing a little rub on the Beast's head before complying. She got him there. ]
Alright, alright... I'm curious to see how fast they can go. Haven't ridden on the back of an animal in a long time.
[ He gently gets on the back of the Beast right behind Ryza. He worried that his weight might be too much but, thankfully he's not wearing any armor right now or carrying anything else aside from a short sword and a knife. He clears his throat as strong hands hold her hips, making sure there's a bit of distance between her ass and his crotch. It was an awkward sitting position to say the least, and he's glad she can't see his embarrassment right now. He's a little red.
But he unintentionally teases back, with a lower and softer voice since his lips hover so close to her ear, with the warmth of his breath touching at her skin. ]
[It was a good thing that he had came prepared with weapons since Ryza was fully expecting them to encounter a few monsters today. At the very least, she wasn't expecting anything too crazy. As adventurous as she was, Ryza knew better than to fight something huge like a dragon all by herself. There's a small exhale whenever she felt his firm hands around her hips. He wasn't the only one who was trying to keep focus... Ryza just had to think about a few formulas and recipes to not get too distracted.
But that tone of voice makes the tips of her ears flare red as there's a delayed pause. "That's not fair." she thinks. Her heart begins to race ever-so-slightly and she felt a little tingly between her legs too. Troy really had a nice voice, didn't he? Ryza never thought of herself to having a voice kink, but she might make an exception in this case. Alright, Reisalin... You're a capable alchemist! This shouldn't be enough to distract you!]
Y-Yeah! Uh, let's go!
[She says as she lightly taps the Spirit Beast with the heels of her feet and the beast begins to run forward. It's moving at a steady pace to where they would be able to take in the sights such as the ever green trees amongst the trail and the large lake that they would be able to see in the distance. Spirit Beasts can move more faster, but this one was being very considerate. There would be a few monsters such as Puni hopping around... But they were mostly harmless if you didn't let your guard down.
Speaking of which... Ryza had realized that she didn't really ask much about him, didn't she? He was very curious about her, but a date was supposed about two people learning more about each other, right?]
Say, Troy... You mentioned that you haven't ridden on an animal in a while, didn't you? What's your profession exactly?
[ Troy is thankfully unaware of Ryza's plight despite knowing the effect he has on women how close he sits behind her. He can smell the scent of her skin and clothes even if he's not trying to. Troy can only hum and nod, letting Ryza take the lead and distract himself with the sights of this wonderful place. The scattered Puni remind him of the wildlife that just roam freely in the many other lands he's been, making her question in line with his thoughts. ]
I'm a soldier. We've been going from place to place, trying to find new lands to settle down on and call home.
[ He admits quite freely, still speaking softly like he's narrating a story ]
We're making do within our lands, but our city is growing and more land to grow food is becoming more of a must than a luxury.
[As a farmer's daughter and adventurer, Ryza was often smelling like plants, soot, dirt and sweat. Not the most pleasant combination... But it never bothered her as much as the average girl would as she lived on the countryside. But that didn't mean she neglected taking baths... Troy was going to smell the faintest whiff of strawberry shampoo (that she made herself) mixed in with her own feminine scent. Meanwhile, she was thinking about the weight of what he said.
A solider, huh? She's been in fights, but never experienced war first hand. She's definitely read about the history of war and explored the aftermath of ruins from battles in the past.]
You must've seen plenty of sad things in the past. I've never been in a war, but I've seen how battles can affect our history and what we can learn from them in the present too.
[The alchemists of the Klint Kingdom were corrupt jerks in her eyes that had triggered two genocides that had affected two people that she respected highly. The man who taught her how to be an alchemist was one of those people and she was happy to mend the wounds in his heart by showing that alchemy can still be used for good. Ironically, her home was also built from that very kingdom who committed those atrocities in the past.
She's one of the few people who knows this secret. In order to protect her everyday life and the lives of others, she had to keep it so. This was all the more reason why Ryza sounds more serious and determined than she usually does. Maybe this wasn't her business, but meddling in other people's affairs was always a Ryza thing to do.]
... But sounds like you might need a super awesome alchemist to help you with food! Alchemy can make things like seeds and meat in a jiffy!
I have. War isn't something I wish upon anyone. Not even my worst enemies...
[ It's a bit ironic that he's become more pacifistic over the years, and yet remains dedicated in being a soldier. He dislikes having to wage war and start fights but, he also cannot deny his nature after being raised as a soldier. Not knowing anything else and not knowing what even makes him truly happy anymore. However, he didn't let those thoughts cloud his good feelings in the present. A wise friend has told him to see himself more as a protector, someone who ends wars rather than starting them. ]
You can make meat?
[ Somehow that surprises him, even after seeing Ryza make a wristlet out of a cauldron. But meat a more complicated material, an entirely different arrangement of atoms than inedible objects. ]
That's something I'd wanna see. All the more reason for you to see our city, then. Having seen a lot of different nations around here, I can guarantee our city will still surprise you.
[ A beat ]
What things could be in there? Well, I'm gonna be a tease and keep it a secret for now.
[ He laughs out loud, poking at her adventurous heart and the curiosity that comes with that. He does wonder now just how the technology of his homeworld would surprise her. He can vaguely imagine it, Ryza geeking out at the wonderful machines and everyday conveniences his people can afford to have. ]
[Was it really that impressive? In Ryza's eyes, it was no problem! Hunting for meat was one thing, but she could easily make it raw with the power of alchemy. Though she was about to ask more questions about his city, but he had to leave it up in the air. That makes her puff her cheeks with an annoyed sigh. For better or worst, Ryza had a high level of curiosity... And the more something mysterious was teased in front of her face, the more that she wanted to know about it.
If she wasn't up front, she'd pinch him as payback. Instead, she just opts for snarking at him in a huffy manner. Ryza's matured in some ways, but she also still a brat in other ways.]
--What the heck? You know... It's pretty rude to play with a woman's expectations. That's totally not fair!
[As a girl who lived on an island that was behind the times so to speak, she was absolutely going to have a field day whenever she gets her chance to visit his home. There was going to be bonus points for her to get more chances to show how awesome alchemy was. It doesn't take much longer for the city to arrive in the distance as the Spirit Beast carries them closer, then once they reach the city's entrance... Ryza taps the beast to stop them before she climbs off.]
Alright, we're here now. Can't let our buddy here take up too much space on city grounds.
[Now she's seen horses come through every now and then, but a Spirit Beast was bigger than those. And she wants to be considerate for others walking through.]
[ He laughs at her reaction. Just a little. Giving her hip a little pat, he says ]
Hehe, sorry. I just thought it's better that you see my city without any expectations. Makes the feeling of awe and wonder more... worth it. You'll see.
[ He promises, letting that topic end there as they are met with the sight of the local city. Troy has seen many places like these by now, but it's always fascinating to see a new one. The thoughts in his mind of what could be in there and what the layout could be, what landmarks are there for him to memorize - all of it swims through his mind while he dismounts from the beast. Troy gives the creature a little pat of gratitude, and even mutters a thanks. ]
Alright. Will they just be hanging out here while we're in the city?
[Ryza had to wonder if he loved to talk to all of the ladies like this. She wasn't judging him for that, but as someone who had little to no dating experience... She was honestly impressed and found herself getting swept away more in his charisma. Compared to him, she felt that she was lagging behind in a sense. Putting a hand on her hip, she grins confidently as she pulls out the bell.]
No worries! [She rings the bell again as the Spirit Beast fades away into sparkles as it looks very satisfied with being of service.] The Spirit Beast will return to its realm and can come back whenever I ring this bell. I'm sure it'll be happy when we give it some "thank you" snacks!
[That being said, she stretches her arms with a refreshed sigh. Then she starts to walk towards the city's entrance with a bit of a skip in her step. One has to wonder where Ryza gets all of her energy from. Ahead of them will be marketing stalls among the buildings where some people are waving to Ryza and she waves back. It looked like she was quite the popular face around here!]
Speaking of snacks... Did you want to get something to eat while we're here? I know a cafe where we can kill two birds with one stone by finding a quest to do and have some grub while we're at it.

[Ryza's way of words sounds a little odd there... But once you became a skilled enough alchemist, you could even hear the voices of objects.]

And it's happy to have you as an owner, you know?
no subject
I hope to make it proud, then.
[ And make her proud, too. This is still the start of their date and adventure, so he still has a lot of chances to continue impressing her. He lays his hand on her own while she was still gingerly touching at his arm, looking softly at her with that promise of wisely wearing this object of sentimental value to the both of them. ]
So, what's next?
[ Excitement fuels his tone of voice as he lets go of his hands, but keeps his attention on her. ]

It always gives me a cozy ride whenever I'm pooped out from walking.
no subject
Sounds good to me. Lead the way, boss.
[ The mention of the Spirit Beast piques his curiosity, humming in thought ]
Maybe we pick up some treats for this Beast along the way too. Just as a token of appreciation. I mean it eats human food, right?

Oh, absolutely so.]
no subject
Well then, time to find out. Shall we?
no subject
What's your profession exactly?

knowing the effect he has on womenhow close he sits behind her. ]I'm a soldier. We've been going from place to place, trying to find new lands to settle down on and call home.
[ He admits quite freely, still speaking softly like he's narrating a story ]
We're making do within our lands, but our city is growing and more land to grow food is becoming more of a must than a luxury.

And she wants to be considerate for others walking through.]
no subject
Hehe, sorry. I just thought it's better that you see my city without any expectations. Makes the feeling of awe and wonder more... worth it. You'll see.
[ He promises, letting that topic end there as they are met with the sight of the local city. Troy has seen many places like these by now, but it's always fascinating to see a new one. The thoughts in his mind of what could be in there and what the layout could be, what landmarks are there for him to memorize - all of it swims through his mind while he dismounts from the beast. Troy gives the creature a little pat of gratitude, and even mutters a thanks. ]
Alright. Will they just be hanging out here while we're in the city?
no subject
