I will have to remember that, would hate to do anything to embarrass myself.
( Elspeth's tone teasing while holding some truth to her statement, though an eyebrow raises at his sigh as her head tilts to the side. The smile tugging at her lips, slowly dissipating as her eyebrows furrow in concern of her own, but that quickly vanishes the moment he asks her to join him for a walk.
Before she even answers, Elspeth pushes herself from the couch. Stamping her feet slightly to bring the blood flow back to them. )
A walk sounds lovely; I don't think I've been able to witness a proper sunrise here yet.
( She glances down to the shirt she's wearing, tugging it down as Elspeth becomes slightly self-conscious about the lack of clothing she's wearing. )
If you don't mind, I would like to change into something more suitable for going outside. It shouldn't take me more than a few minutes.
[ Her humor is a good sign, and one he can appreciate and respond to in kind. He can't fully see himself in her position, but he believes it to not be an easy one. Nodding, he cocks his head toward the direction of the penthouse door ]
I got you some clothes the other day. I put them in the closet of your room.
[ He said taking a step back to show he's just about ready to go as he suggests: ]
Three minutes, then I'll meet you at the door.
[ While tempted to see her reaction to his choice of clothes for her, he'll just wait and surprise himself of what she'll pick from the lot. He chose them based on what he thought would look great on her, which had a lot of pencil skirts and sundresses. At least they come in different lengths...?
He walked back to his room to put some extra clothes on; like a watch, a tight hoodie and some tapered pants to go with his shoes. Soon enough, he's by the door waiting and feeling some anticipation for a simple walk. ]
( A look of surprise crosses Elspeth's face, after everything he's done for her already she is still caught off guard by his generosity. After devoting most of her life to the church and then to the war effort, she is used to living a rather modest lifestyle. So, being exposed to the luxuries he provides is still foreign enough to make her feel slightly out of place. )
You have already done more than enough for me, but thank you.
( Elspeth nods as she heads towards the room she is currently staying in, her feet hitting the floor as she quickens her pace. )
Three minutes.
( Elspeth repeats as she quickly pulls off the shirt as she enters the room, tossing it to the bed as she throws open the closet door. An audible gasp escapes her lips as she spots the clothes, hesitantly reaching out to feel the fabrics beneath her fingers.
She isn't the kind of person that puts much thought into fashion. When she wasn't wearing leggings with a tunic (the underclothes she wore under her armor), Elspeth was in her church vestments and rarely used the pair of fine clothes she had since battles aren't the place to wear finery.
Realizing she has spent more time than she wanted gawking at the clothes, she grabs one of the sundresses. Quickly threading it over her head and arms, allowing it to loosely fall over her surprisingly feminine curves considering the strength she possesses and the amount of athleticism she can accomplish. The soft blue sundress falls just below her knees, giving her the freedom to move around and run if she needs to. Grabbing a cardigan from the closet, she throws it on before shaking her hair out to fluff it slightly before braiding her hair over one shoulder as she walks towards the door.
A smile tugs at the corners of her lips as she glances up at him before glancing down at the shoes by the door. She almost picks a pair of running shoes but opts for the sandals since she remembers someone wearing something similar when watching television. )
The clothes are beautiful; it was hard picking one thing to wear.
[ Troy was leaning against the wall when his attention was called by her compliment over the clothes. He actually felt wowed by her appearance, his eyes widening just slightly in awe. He knew he was good at knowing what looks great on a woman, but he never expected this. Giving himself a mental pat on the back, he smiles and opens the door of this penthouse for her ]
Hopefully you get to wear 'em all. At least once.
[ He mused. The last comment is him being aware that her goal is to go home. Still, he guides her out of the penthouse and out of the building into the city proper.
The city, despite the hour, is brightly lit from the colorful screens and lights from the street lights and businesses. Sleepless like the two of them. Even the sky is showing the smallest glimpse of light as dawn is soon to come. Distant noises of the city can still be heard, even as the streets and sidewalks they're on are barren of anyone else. A peaceful atmosphere amid the chaos of sensory overload. ]
So I'm sure you have questions. Why you, and just you, out of everyone in that club?
( While Elspeth spent most of her life devoted to the Church of Helm, there was a time when she lived a life of luxury and remembered twirling in front of a mirror anytime she received a new dress. Once her sandals are on, and they are outside the door, she gives him a twirl for the full effect of being in the clothes he picked out. )
I hope so, considering all the effort and money you must have spent on these.
( She feels the weight of his last comment and the lingering meaning it has behind it; Elspeth offers him a gentle smile. Hopefully, it is enough to give him some reassurance.
A gasp escapes Elspeth's lips; the sight of the city still causes her heart to stop and become breathless every time she lays eyes upon it. It is a sight she will likely never get bored or of tired of it stealing her breath away.
She nods in agreement, a blush of embarrassment gracing her cheeks as she tucks some stray hairs behind her ear. )
Am I that predictable? It would be a lie if I said it didn't cross my mind often, but I never wanted to come across as ungrateful for all you have done for me.
[ He won't lie that he's shallow when it comes to women at times, always allured by beautiful ones. So her smile was successful in giving him reassurance, reminding him that even if he didn't see her again, the fact that he did meet her and helped her was enough to soothe his worries.
He lets Elspeth drink in the sights and sounds of the city. He imagines it's still a sensory overload for someone like herself, seeing how she reacted once they were out of the building. He strolls leisurely, not thinking about going strong today with his usual morning sprints. ]
Mm, nah. I figure that's what anyone in your position would think. Sorry if I didn't share it sooner.
[ He shakes his head ]
I didn't want you to be more stressed out than you already were, working at that place. But that's not really a good reason, so here it is: your world is not in our database. The others with you in that club, we know what world they were all from. So it was easy to take them home.
[ He shrugs his shoulders, taking a turn towards the walking path by the marina. A morning breeze from the sea washes over them as they walk side by side, with only a few distractions of shop-owners and early workers saying good morning to Troy along the way. He lets the thought linger for a bit, turning to look at her with an assured smile ]
But we're working on it. I'm confident it's only a matter of time before you're back home.
( The blonde's eyes linger on the skyline before her, her blue eyes sparkling with excitement and childlike wonder; this is a sight she will never tire of. As Elspeth turns to Troy, she tucks a few rogue strands of hair behind her ear as the sea breeze picks up.
Her eyebrows knit together as she listens to him, her features falling slightly but she does her best to keep a neutral face; after everything she has gone through (in both this land and her own), Elspeth should be used to such news. )
Th-there's nothing to be sorry for, you are telling me now. ( Her voice cracks slightly with emotion, having to avert her eyes momentarily as she collects herself.
Quietly she follows alongside Troy, her index and middle fingers linked together as she avoids wringing her hands. )
I am glad you were able to get the other's home safely, that is all I could hope for.
As for myself, the news isn't a complete shock. After the calamity between the gods, Mystra the goddess of magic used the last of her powers to bring as much of the weave onto the planet to ensure magic could be used without her. Perhaps with that much magic, it would have been a target and she — hid the world?
( Elspeth is sure there's a better more technical term he would use or understand, but her knowledge of his world is still limited. )
Perhaps. But it's nothing we haven't dealt with before. It's only finding a right - signature - that's taking a while.
[ He too took a moment to find the right term that would effectively relay his thoughts. He's used to talking with otherworlders, and yet there's times it doesn't feel easier than it did the first time ]
In the meantime, I'm here for you. Let's give it a week. That's my guess. So you have time to enjoy what my world has to offer and I'll be happy to guide you.
[ He says, his voice becoming more proud and happy now that he feels a big weight off his shoulders. And something in him does want to spend time with her, both to make up for her bad experiences with his planet's culture, and to also get to know her on a personal level ]
( Unlacing her fingers, Elspeth turns to face Troy, her head cocking to the side slightly — a few rogue strands of hair falling into her face. She raises an eyebrow slightly in curiosity. )
Are you asking if I have any hobbies? ( She laughs softly, her shoulders rolling slightly as she tries to rid herself of any tension that might have built talking about her home. )
I believe it has been ... ten years since the start of the war campaign against Asmodeus and his forces, and for as far as I am aware, the battle is still ongoing. Drafted into the army, I was barely fifteen and had been fighting since.
There was little time to develop habits; I spent most of my free time reading books on strategies, honing my healing skills, and attending to the wounded. Occasionally I gave into drinking with my comrades, and most of all, I was attending to my lady.
Before that, I was indentured in the service of the church. As you can imagine, there was little time for anything considered fun. I took up the art of wood carving; several grand hall pieces are my work.
Another workaholic soldier. No wonder I felt a connection.
[ He chuckles. He feels able to relate, as he even forgot what his hobbies are these days. He had some before he became as busy as he is now, but sometimes he wonders if he'll ever find time or passion to pick them up again ]
But, that must have been a hard life.
[ He had other things in mind that he wanted to ask, but he lets her have some wiggle room to say what else she was free to and just took note of what she said about herself. His look shows empathy for her situation for like he said, he too is a workaholic soldier. His stride slows to match her smaller ones, thinking perhaps he can help her find some fun in life before she inevitably gets taken back. Taken from him...
But maybe some of his own flaws is compelling him to, feeling like he too needs to enjoy life a little as well. So what if they both do? That can't be a bad thing. These thoughts conflict with his usual self who's so dedicated to his work. ]
