[If Ryza knew what he was thinking, she'd argue that she could take care of herself just fine! But no... She might've been older and wiser, but she would always have that reckless side and moments of carelessness that made her who she was. That's why it was always good to have a friend or two to come along with you. And she definitely felt like she would be safe with Troy around. There's a mischievous glint in her eyes as she speaks. That was another thing that she always did whenever she was younger.]
Heh heh heh... ♪ The bigger the danger, the bigger the thrill! It's mentioned that the pearl is hidden in a underwater dungeon. So that means we'll have to do some swimming underwater and I'll bet my bottom Cole that there's gonna be plenty of monsters.
[Where there was dungeons, there was always monsters. It was like a unwritten rule whenever it came to the world of adventure. There was another reason why Ryza felt herself growing more excited for this quest.]
We did talk about going swimming, didn't we? So this sounds like the perfect opportunity to get our feet wet if you wanna do it!
[ How could he forget, after all? The promise of Ryza in a swimsuit is more than enough for him to want to go through with this. The promise of danger isn't even his priority, which is rare for him. It just goes to show how much he's enjoying Ryza's company. ]
Alright, let's get some food then we can go? Get yourself ready to lose in a swimming race while we're at it.
[ He waggles his eyebrows at her, confident he'll win in this contest he just made up just to tease and challenge her. When it's time for them to order, Troy picks something light and healthy. He's curious about Ryza's choice of meal though, that will be enough for him to tell more about her, and he'll end up with another piece to the Ryza puzzle. ]
Oh please! I've been able to outswim plenty of the boys on my island, you know!
[She just childishly sticks her tongue out at at him before Zephine returns to ask for their order. Troy would see that she absolutely has a competitive side! As for Ryza, she's in the mood for something sweet. So she decides to order a Cocktail Leb. It's a dessert that actually heals fatigue and replenishes health... She considers this as one of her comfort foods.
It doesn't take too long for Zephine to return with their dishes and Ryza beams once her dish is presented in front of her. Once she grabs her fork, she's about to take a bite... But she pauses for a moment in some quick thought.]
Hey, Troy... Do you want to try some of this? The fruits taste rea~lly good and you'll feel an extra oomph in your step.
[ The Cocktail Leb just feels on brand to what he knows of Ryza so far, and it's cute, adding a syllable to that chuckle he gives when she stuck her tongue out at him. Troy watches, waiting for her to take the first bite of their respective meals before she unexpectedly offers him a bite. Troy hums, looking at that expectant face across the table. He shrugs ]
Why not.
[ He leans forward, opening his mouth just enough to go "aaa" ]
[Ah... Was he really doing this? He was really doing this! Ryza wasn't sure how to respond. Originally, she was just going to put a fruit on his plate. But instead he goes for something so bold! She takes a quick glance around to make sure that no one was looking at them... Then she takes her fork to gently place a fruit slice on his tongue.]
T-There! Whaddya think?
[Little did Ryza know was that there was one person who was observing them: Zephine. And she was quietly giggling up a storm at their flirting around!]
[ A second passes and Troy lifts his brows expectantly, feeling awkward to have his mouth open for so long but remains a soldier in his dedication to messing with the pretty girl. That shy glance felt much sweeter than the fruit once it lays in his tongue. He savors the taste of it once his lips close, grinning again as he gently chews and continuing to lock his eyes directly at her to assert some dominance in their teasing war. ]
Mmm... Very sweet, and juicy.
[ Why is he looking at her intently when he said that? Well it could just be him continuing his bit. He laughs and eases on his gaze, looking at his food and getting set up. He gestures for them to start dining, smirk staying on his face even as he forks at the vegetables on his plate. He doesn't look at Zephine to know she's watching them. It's just what a friend would do, and he hopes she is enjoying herself with the show. ]
[Why indeed!? Why?! She couldn't help and feel her eyes focused on the way that Troy's lips move and his tone of voice. Something about what he was doing was making her heart race quicker than she expected. Calm that maidenly heart, Ryza... She opts for focusing more at her food and idly pokes at her fruits like a kid who was fumbling through her greens. That was absolutely an old habit that she used to do whenever she was younger, but...
The truth was that she couldn't look Troy in his eyes. It really did feel like he pulled a fast one on her! There's a small "grrr" as she decides to get back at him with a little kick at his shin. Maybe it wasn't the most mature thing in the world, but she felt that it was fair!]
--Hmph! Well, I'm glad you liked it! I'm gonna go to the bathroom...!
[She says as she abruptly gets up and leaves to for the good old-fashioned powder room in a huff. Zephine decides to step in once Ryza leaves with a little apologetic giggle.]
Hehehe... Ryza's really cute whenever she gets flustered, isn't she? Honestly, I don't think I've seen her this energetic in a while... The last time I saw her, hmm... [She puts a hand to her cheek in deep thought.] She almost felt like a shell of her former self. She's been adventuring a lot, so I wouldn't be surprised if she lost some important things along the way.
[ Troy jolts at the kick with a "huh?" as Ryza stands up and walks out. Did he go too far? Troy can only look with puzzled as he watched Ryza strut away to the back of the restaurant. The way her hips moved didn't even register in his mind even when his eyes were attracted to that red color like a bull. Zephine's arrival turns his attention to her, listening to her words made him relax into a sheepish grin. ]
What happened, if you don't mind me asking?
[ He is genuinely curious, with concern painting his tune. It's something to be told that a friend you know hasn't been energetic for some time, but also hearing about how she must have lost some things along the way. Adventures can be fun but he knows full well that it asks for a price sometimes. ]
[Troy absolutely didn't do anything wrong! But whenever it came to feelings, Ryza could be a bit of a brat sometimes. Especially since she's never been on a date before or met a man like Troy... She just needed a moment to pull herself together and breathe for a second. Even Ryza was trying to come to terms what was going through her right now... She's had plenty of time to be an alchemist and adventurer, but not a woman. And like many adventures, it could sometimes be a scary and uncomfortable thing.
Meanwhile, Zephine pauses more thoughtfully as she thinks back to Ryza's previous behavior. Ryza would be the one who could tell the full story, but Zephine could give him a nugget.]
She had a loyal companion that she had to part ways with some time ago... It wasn't so much that she wanted to, but needed to. Even whenever she puts on a smile, I feel like that girl has difficulty with goodbyes and knowing the hurt never truly goes away.
[She lets out a melancholic sigh. Ryza wasn't the only one who she's seen that way... There were plenty of adventurers who come by here with sad experiences.]
Mr. Troy... Have you ever had experiences with that?
[ Troy listens, nodding and humming in understanding. Zephine's melancholy is lightly reflected by Troy as he lets his gaze linger on her for a moment, taking his attention at her as he answers, looking at the direction Ryza went. ]
I have. More than a few times. That's normal for us soldiers.
[ The life of a warrior should prepare them all for goodbyes, but they're all still human at the end of the day. The hurt never goes away even if they get easier to deal with over time. Troy sympathizes with Ryza. ]
[So he was a solider, huh? That made sense to Zephine with his physical build, but his easygoing demeanor said otherwise! Still, her expression shifts to a more sincere smile at him. He appeared to have a strong core both physically and mentally, so she felt that he would be good emotional support for Ryza.]
Hehe... I think that'll be a story meant for her to tell. But I trust you'll take good care of her! Ah, speaking of which...
[The alchemist in question steps out of the bathroom and Zephine quickly dismisses herself with a wave and wink. Ryza catches Zephine as she leaves and she's not sure what she's feeling right now. It was just a date! So why did she feel her chest twist with anxiety? She knew that she wasn't elegant or ladylike at all, so it wouldn't be helped with Troy's eyes wandering to another girl... Right?
She was just a wild, clumsy and ordinary country girl! There was nothing special about her asides her alchemy... So it would make sense, right? She quickly walks up to Troy with reddened cheeks as she looks flustered, uncomfortable and insecure all at once. She properly bows her head with her hands clinched.]
--Troy! Uh, uh... I'm really sorry! I didn't mean to freak out and leave you like that...! It's just, I dunno... I don't know the right way to act on dates! I'm not elegant or ladylike at all...! And I can't lift a pinkie while holding a spoon to save my life! And, and...!
[She had to take a breath as the anxiety was gripping her chest like a vice. The look in her eyes said: "Please don't leave me alone."]
[ Troy understands and is grateful to know that Zephine isn't a gossip, letting her friend tell the more personal parts of her own story. Ryza has a great friend in her, and it inspires him to be another. As Ryza steps out of the restroom, Troy acknowledges her, standing in the hallway in the back of the restaurant floor and walking back to him. He stands up when she returns, showing a calm concern and lets her speak her piece. ]
Ryza...
[ He feels her name slip from his lips, his hand softly touching her shoulder as he shows reassurance. ]
You did nothing wrong, so there's nothing to forgive. Come, sit down...
[ He offers to give her a pause, gesturing to her seat, and not to bring embarrassment to her by letting the other patrons see them both standing up and talking like that. ]
I'm sorry that I made you feel like that, though. But if it's any consolation, that nervousness is normal on first dates. Trying to think of how to act, what to say... Good thing to remember that a date is just getting to know each other. You don't have to act different to impress me, I already am.
[ If there's anyone who needs to impress the other, it's him. Troy hopes his words manage to be of help, and thinking to himself to simmer down on the teasing to not make Ryza feel flustered like that again. ]
[Feeling that hand on her shoulder gets her to calm down as she takes a breath. Ryza tends to have a habit of rambling away whenever she got excited or flustered over something. And this definitely didn't just translate to alchemy! She didn't realize that she would potentially draw them attention, but thankfully... Troy had saved her from any third-parties seeing what was going on.
She sits down and lets Troy speak... He was being really understanding and sincere about her feelings. Ryza couldn't help and not want to hold back on what to say either. The alchemist couldn't help and feel her heart race again... He was impressed by her? She felt that she really didn't do much, but...
Relationships were all about being open and honest with each other, right? It was a good thing that she was an open girl who didn't have much to hide... She couldn't help and shake her head.]
So what you're saying is that... You've been through the same situation before? I mean, I guess that would make sense! Everyone has a starting point before they get really good at something.
[It was almost hard to believe with his maturity and charisma. But Ryza felt like she had a point to make. If he was restraining himself, then that wouldn't had felt right.]
It's just... I don't want you to feel like that you have to hold back on me. Whenever you look me, I actually feel like a girl. And I've never had anyone see me that way before... It makes my heart race in a nice way. [Even if it was embarrassing, it wasn't bad.] From what I can tell... You're a gentlemen, but you're also flirty and playful. I don't want you to sacrifice parts of yourself to make me feel better.
[She felt wanted in another way that wasn't just for her alchemy. It was empowering in a way... Not only that, Ryza wasn't the type of girl who'd turn down praise directed at her. So she reaches out to take Troy's hands into hers as she looks directly into his eyes. Those hazel eyes of hers shone with a strong determination.]
You're an amazing person! And I want to get to know you much more! That's why I'm not calling it quits... In fact, I'm even more invigorated now!
[ It's the little things she did and do that managed to get his approval, but he knows seeing things in that lens takes experience. Troy listens to her, his full attention focused on Ryza's emotions, with his eyes only drifting slightly when he lets her take his hand. He grasps hers in return and meets her gaze, with his smile returning when he sees that renewed vigor in her eyes ]
That's good to hear!
[ He grasps her hand tighter, with a subtle beam of pride in his features and the tone of his voice. ]
But I want you to know that I am not holding myself back around you. I'm just taking things slow so I don't take your spotlight, and letting you guide me around since this is your place. But...
[ He picks up his fork, drawing attention to their still barely eaten food ]
Now is a good a time as any to tell you about myself, huh? How's that for a change?
[ Easing the heat of the spotlight off of her might make her feel less nervous, so he offers. Telling her his story while they eat is a good way to kill two birds with one stone as well. ]
Hehe... My spotlight, huh? You're talking like I'm the protagonist in some story!
[Ryza couldn't help and giggle hearing that as her cheeks redden at the thought. Her? A protagonist? It was a cool thought... But there were definitely people out there who were better suited for the role. Who would write a story about her, anyway? Once he pulls his hands back and takes his fork... She realizes that they really hadn't eaten much at all.]
But as long as you feel comfortable with being yourself, that's all I need. I'm not a high-maintenance gal, you know?
[She leans back as her eyes glitter with curiosity... One of the biggest trademarks of being an alchemist was a hunger for wonder and knowledge. How one uses that knowledge was always up to them, but Ryza would always use it for good and the betterment of people around her. She's genuinely excited to lean more about Troy as her feet rock back and forth.]
Yes! I'd love to learn more about you. You mentioned that you were a solider, right? How did you become one if you don't mind me asking?
[ He reassures her, he's been paying attention. The fact that she's easy-going is one of the many traits that endear her to him a lot. It's not often that someone like her would entertain a date with someone like him. They're literally worlds apart. But he lets them settle and eat, letting her nerves settle while also stealing quick glances of her. She's more beautiful than she gives herself credit for. That soft face framed by her short hair, luring his eyes to her own and to the accessories on her neck and ears that only compounds her power.
Troy nods while he takes relaxed bites, knowing it's his turn to share. His mind tries to condense it without needing to lie to whitewash the painful truth. ]
It was out of necessity, and being blinded by an immature desire for revenge. All started from massive storm caused a flood in my hometown. It was so bad, roofs were being torn and houses getting swept up by the wind while the streets start turning into murky rivers. Lost my family to the incident while I nearly drowned trying to get people from my neighborhood to safety. I was the only one left and had nowhere to go, and while I was close to death I saw some things in the water. Monsters that I never thought to be real. Thought I was just hallucinating. But after I was rescued, I told people what I saw. I was approached by a man who asked me if I want to serve as a soldier. Told me the truth that the storm was definitely something not natural, but supernatural.
[ He pauses to let her catch up, not wanting to pour in so much information at once ]
I had nowhere to go. Nobody to turn to. So I thought why not. Being a soldier at least guaranteed they'd let me have something to eat, right? They trained me to be a part of a secret group of soldiers, made of other kids like myself who all had nowhere to go and had one thing in common. We wanted to get back at the monsters that caused this storm, avenge our losses. Life just got even crazier from there. First I just found out monsters are real, then the next I found out the man who recruited me was an old god.
[ He chuckles a bit wryly, letting Ryza have the time to think about what he said and ask questions if something nags at her curiosity. His smile lingers just to show that he has healed from all of this, and she shouldn't hold back on him. ]
[Whenever it came to Ryza, she was absolutely the type of girl who had laser focus on things that triggered her curiosity and thirst for adventure. Even though she was diligent whenever it came to alchemy, she felt that she wouldn't had been a good student compared to Tao or Bos. They were far more studious than her... Though Ryza did take her time to be a teacher for the children on her island for a part-time role, but it was only temporary! Whenever it came to her friends or someone in need, she gave them her undivided attention.
As she listened to more of Troy's story, her eyes widened and she felt her heart tug with ache. She couldn't imagine losing her home and family... It came dangerously close one time, but she and her friends had ended up solving the problem before it had became worst. If anything, Ryza had to wonder if she would've been in the same position as him if her life went a little differently. Not only that, she reminded him of Lila... A warrior woman who came from a war-torn world. She never had the chance to live a normal life as she dedicated to her duty... At least until she met Empel - The alchemist that taught her the lessons in becoming one.]
Troy... That's-- [What could she say? She knew being a solider wasn't easy for anyone, but this was downright tragic. It just made her all the more grateful to have a home and living parents. In the past, she absolutely took her peaceful days far more for granted. She shuts her eyes to take a breath and places her hands to her chest to prevent her tears from welling up and starting another scene to give him trouble. Once Ryza takes a breath, she speaks more calmly... There was a slight crack in her voice, but she sounds like herself.]
Wow... I, uh... I didn't know how rough you had it. And you still manage to smile like a everyday person despite shouldering such a harsh past. You really are amazing... [And it just made her all the more determined to make him happy. If he was able to talk about his history this openly with a peaceful smile on his face, then it had to be fine...] I guess if it's really okay for me to ask questions... Was the monsters that attacked your home called "Philuscha" by any chance?
[Those were the scariest monsters that Ryza knew personally. Dragons were one thing, but the Philuscha were on another level. The Ravaging Queen in particular still freaked her out in her darkest dreams.]
[ Troy feels her sympathy for him, to which he responds to with a kind smile that showed a hint of resignation of his past. The wounds may have healed, but the scars will remain for the rest of his life. Troy simply shakes his head when she asks what the monsters were. ]
No. They were called Kataw. Monsters from the ancient myths of my people that I once thought were just stories told to kids to scare 'em, but apparently they're real. I was one of the few who managed to see them.
[ That's not even the worst part about his past, too. He'll get to it if she wants to hear more. ]
They've been living in the deepest parts of the ocean for centuries, stewing in their grudge against surface dwellers and have been waiting for a chance to strike. Said it's to reclaim the land that was once theirs. I don't know if that sounds similar to the Philuscha? What are they like?
--Really?! So adults really do that in other places too! The adults on our island often told us horror stories to keep us from going on adventures, but we often ignored 'em and did them anyway!
[A sign of her fearless spirit! It was often Ryza who was dragging her friends on wild adventures despite their protests, but they all still had fun. Nowadays, she understands that they told those stories to protect them from danger... But every hatchling must leave the nest. As Troy continues to speak more about the Kataw, her expression hardens as she thinks more about what she knows about the Philuscha...]
Uh... Whenever you put things like that, those Kataw creatures really do share mannerisms like the Philuscha. They're monsters that come from another world and sap away the environment like insects and kill anyone in their way... I have a friend who was a victim of their assaults and her home was plundered and ravaged by them!
[There was a bit of anger in her voice as her fist clinches up instinctively. It's more about the actions of monsters that angered her than the monster themselves... She was someone who could get along with beasts, but it's actions that come with hurting other people that triggered her sense of justice. As friendly as she was, Ryza wouldn't hesitate to kill a monster to protect people and herself.]
Anyway... Now that I think about it? The Philuscha do hate water, but they're still really crafty at how they move. They come in various shapes and sizes and there's always a bigger one that controls the pack. [A beat as she takes a breath.] My home was nearly invaded by them once, but my friends and I stopped them. Beyond the Oren people from the Underworld, my friends and I are the only ones who know they exist.
[ Troy finds it comforting to hear her voice as they eat and talk, sharing more and more pieces of themselves with each other. He nods and hums, listening to her while his eyes reflect his immediate thought on her stories. From a friend being a victim to the Philuscha, how these monsters behave, and Ryza heroic act in protecting her home alongside her friends. He can only imagine them; not doubting they're capable people worthy of Ryza's company. Troy remembers what he was told, about how Ryza and her friends have gone their separate ways. ]
Are the Oren still around? Or access to the Underworld?
[ He can't help but be curious. He has grown fond of underground settlements thanks to his time working alongside Dwarves and Dark Elves. ]
That said though, you and your friends did an admirable thing, I can't help but feel even more respect for you. Couldn't have been easy.
Hehe... I was still an innocent country girl back then! We were all learning new things and wanted to start walking our own paths to adulthood. Back then, I was really scared... But it was a great learning experience. I gotta ask you to keep this a biiiig secret, okay? ♥
[She adds by putting a finger to her lips with a playful wink. The fact that Ryza could say it with such weight and nostalgia shows that it was something that she grew up from... But she never forgot that fear and experience from being out of her comfort zone and fighting monsters that she's never seen before! At Troy's question, Ryza hums thoughtful as she folds her arms in deep thought... She just needed a moment to ponder on what makes an Oren stand out from a normal human.]
It's not often that you meet the Oren on the surface world, but you'll know them when you see them! [That's whenever she snaps her fingers.] Ah! I'd say that their most distinguishing features are their pale skin, white hair and their heterochromia.
[Then she'll be pausing to eat some more of her food. As sociable as she was, she couldn't forget to fill up her stomach! Getting the Underworld wasn't a normal feat, but Ryza certainly knew a way.]
I'd say that going to the Underworld means that we would have to find a Gate! I do know a few, but that environment isn't like ours. Your body will need a bit of time to adapt to the heavy air!
[ Troy gestures by drawing a line across his lips about that secret, leaning forward a little to listen closer. ]
Ah. They sound like Dark Elves where I'm from.
[ He thought of the Oren, reminding him of the Dalaketnon from his home country and the Dark Elves of Midgard he frequently worked with, along with the Dwarves. ]
And that's not surprising to me, too. Good thing my body can adapt to environments like that instantly. Remind me to take you to some Dwarf and Dark Elf cities, deep deep underground. Got a feeling seeing their underground cities will turn you like a kid in a candy store.
[ All the more reason he wants to take Ryza to Midgard. He can already imagine her smile, and it makes him smile fondly at the thought, and how his imagination mirrors the smile he's seeing now. Country girl or tomboy she may think of herself as, but he can't deny she's really beautiful. Growing even more so with every bit of knowledge he gains about her. ]
Wow... You're really capable of anything, aren't you? I couldn't ask for a better partner to go on adventures with!
[There's a certain glitter in her eyes whenever Troy brings up the Dark Elves and their civilization. Those who knew Ryza well meant that she was already itching to say "Let's go there right now!" as she's a lady of impulse and adventure. If she were younger, Ryza would've certainly stood up from the chair to say that. But now that she's matured a bit, she's learned to curb those boundless feelings in her chest a little better. But it didn't change the fact that they were still there...]
You sure know how to tease a girl with a good time, you know that? [Awkwardly, she couldn't help and scratch her cheek with a little giggle.] I'd love to see that place with you someday. I'm sure if you're friends with them, then they have to be good people!
[She always tried to see the best in people! If the Oren that she's met were socially awkward, yet welcoming people... Then for sure, the Dark Elves had to have their quirks as well. But even if the name sounded ominous, Ryza was sure that there had to have been more to them than that.]
I'm ready to hear more about your past, though! You mentioned that your recruiter was an... old god?
[ "Partner" has a nice ring to it that made him blush a little, mirroring the glitter in her eyes when he smiles. He can definitely see her impulsive desire for adventure, and is eager to help satisfy that in the future. After all, they're partners in this now, right? ]
And yeah, him. I didn't think he was a god at first, honestly. Back then my faith in what's actually real and what's mythical was so confused and he presented himself as a human man. I thought he worked for the government, and even went by a human name - Emilio.
[ He pauses for a bit, remembering those moments like it was yesterday. His enhanced mind provides him with a photographic memory that's become both a blessing and a curse. He remembers it all. How he was freezing after being fished out of the flood, how hopeless and lost he felt yet inside him was an ember that this Emilio fed, knowing it will grow into a blaze. ]
He wasn't alone. He had a group with him, and they brought me along with other kids like me on a boat when we agreed to their request to join the fight against the monster we all saw. We were sworn to secrecy with the promise of being granted power to fight these monsters, training us from day one to become soldiers in this remote island that's full of supernatural phenomena. Me and the other kids became each other's new family after we bonded over the loss of our real ones, so even when the training was grueling we had each other. All under the watchful eye of Emilio, who we later learned was one of the war gods worshipped by our ancestors. Him and his group were all war gods, they were the ones who trained us in fighting and dealing with magic.
[He's never seen him blush until now! Ah, he really did have a cute side... Ryza couldn't help and giggle a little seeing that. She wondered what other ways that she could make him do that in the future. Perhaps she should make more of an attempt at flirting with him? Questions and attempts for later! For now, she's more transfixed at Troy's story as she listens rather obediently.
It was interesting hearing about gods since she had about them through books, myths and legends throughout some of her travels. But she had yet to really met one in the flesh. Even the fact that gods were the ones who were responsible for alchemy itself. That fact was still something to take in... But she still planned on using this craft for good and the sake of others over using it to hurt people for selfish reasons. This Emilio sounded like a good guy... Ryza had a question or two on her end, but she couldn't help and empathize with his history since it mirrored hers in a few ways.]
You know, that really sounds like a lot about how I started out! I was just your average old farmer's daughter seeking out something new and different from my boring old island. My friends and I would always be causing headaches and allll sorts of trouble for the adults - We were called "The Three Brats". [She awkwardly scratches her cheek.] Not my favorite title in the world, but I guess we were really immature back then!
[She moves her hands to her lap. Just like her, he had a reliable instructor who put him on the path that he was meant to be set on. Ryza did wish that he didn't have to suffer along the way, but at the same time... He wouldn't be the wonderful man that he was if it wasn't for his past.]
One day... Whenever we were on an adventure, we were attacked by a scary monster that was far out of our experience range. But that's whenever my teacher, Empel appeared and defeated it by using a bomb born from alchemy! Nowadays, I can make bombs no problem... But the first time that I saw that, my heart started racing! It was, just, something I've never seen before on my sheltered little island.
[Then she lifts both of her hands up and balls one into a fist while cupping it into another. She knows what she was going to say next was going to come off as rather greedy, but Ryza was always an impulsive girl whenever her heart was set on something. That's one trait that hasn't changed much even while she's matured quite a bit.]
So I kept bugging him to teach me alchemy until he finally said yes! I know it's not as honorable as your reasons, but it was just something that my heart was really set on.

Hey, Troy... Do you want to try some of this? The fruits taste rea~lly good and you'll feel an extra oomph in your step.
no subject
Why not.
[ He leans forward, opening his mouth just enough to go "aaa" ]
no subject
And she was quietly giggling up a storm at their flirting around!]
no subject
no subject
She's been adventuring a lot, so I wouldn't be surprised if she lost some important things along the way.
no subject
What happened, if you don't mind me asking?
[ He is genuinely curious, with concern painting his tune. It's something to be told that a friend you know hasn't been energetic for some time, but also hearing about how she must have lost some things along the way. Adventures can be fun but he knows full well that it asks for a price sometimes. ]
no subject
Mr. Troy... Have you ever had experiences with that?
no subject
I have. More than a few times. That's normal for us soldiers.
[ The life of a warrior should prepare them all for goodbyes, but they're all still human at the end of the day. The hurt never goes away even if they get easier to deal with over time. Troy sympathizes with Ryza. ]
Hopefully it wasn't such a bitter parting...
[ Like some of his ]
no subject
The look in her eyes said: "Please don't leave me alone."]
no subject
no subject
In fact, I'm even more invigorated now!
no subject
no subject
How did you become one if you don't mind me asking?
no subject

The Ravaging Queen in particular still freaked her out in her darkest dreams.]
no subject
What are they like?
no subject
Beyond the Oren people from the Underworld, my friends and I are the only ones who know they exist.
no subject
Are the Oren still around? Or access to the Underworld?
[ He can't help but be curious. He has grown fond of underground settlements thanks to his time working alongside Dwarves and Dark Elves. ]
That said though, you and your friends did an admirable thing, I can't help but feel even more respect for you. Couldn't have been easy.
no subject
Your body will need a bit of time to adapt to the heavy air!
no subject
no subject
You mentioned that your recruiter was an... old god?
no subject
Him and his group were all war gods, they were the ones who trained us in fighting and dealing with magic.
no subject
