[ Troy brought some tech to share with the people of Kurken. Just enough to skirt by the rules of the agreement between his people and the pre-industrial natives of this planet. He brought with him a whole crate packed with items approved for trade with locals, currently cozy in the wooden ship's cargo deck. Troy stood out from the moment he boarded the ship till now, being friendly with the sailors and wearing his highly advanced power armor. It looks like regular plate armor from a distance or a quick glance, but it drove the sailors into a frenzy of awe and questions.
He helped out with the ship's activities for most of the trip. Being idle has never been his style, but that also meant Ryza has a lot of time alone in the ship and only now that things are dying down that he gets time to talk to her. He was out in the foredeck when Ryza comes out from the balcony, looking up to see his friend glowing in the morning light. He gives her a greeting nod. ]
Hey! Mornin', sleepyhead. Which one is your house?
[ He looks at the island's coast, jutting his thumb towards it ]
[It was a good thing that Kurken was becoming more open and flexible to new ideas too! Alchemy wasn't as widely accepted on this island as it is now due to her efforts. It was funny how Ryza had went from a big troublemaker to someone that the citizens could rely on... Even the politicians here had known her name! Not just her, but all of her friends have left their mark on this island on some level. Seeing how friendly and capable Troy was, she felt that he would have no problems with fitting in.
And he's an outsider, so that made him all the more appealing! He just hoped that the village girls could keep their hands off him. Ryza has already claimed dibs and she had an alchemy staff to bat them away. She might've grown up and become more responsible in the eyes of people, but that chaotic side of her would never truly die.
In the midst of her idle time, Ryza was also doing her best to assist with the crew. If there was a spare part that they needed, then she felt that she could cook up something quick with alchemy! This had also helped her with coming up with some recipe ideas that she had to write down. And not only that, she could not-so-stealthily watch Troy as he was helping out the crew on his end. There was always something attractive about a helpful and hard-working man, what could she say?
Plus there's a big part of her that really wanted to know how that armor of his worked! Just what kind of metals was it made of?! It was no wonder he was so muscular since it'd take a lot of muscle to move around, yet he made it look like he was wearing regular clothes.
Hearing Troy's joke gets her a giggle a little before she replies.]
Hehe... No, you big dummy! It's over in the Rasen District!
[She takes a few steps forward to meet him. Just like the rising sun itself, Ryza's smile had match it with brightness.]
But it'll probably be easier to show you once we're there. You sure worked hard on the way here, huh?
Something to keep myself busy, is all. Happy to help make the crew's lives easier too, heard they're just staying here for a bit before it's back to the port we came from.
[ Troy has great respect for ocean-farers, being from an archipelagic country surrounded by seas. He hears the first mate announce preparations to make it to port, with Troy giving Ryza a look to get themselves ready too. ]
Must feel so boring to you now, huh? Seeing this familiar sight of the port over and over?
[ He doubts that's the case, but he can't help but ask ]
Well, you've definitely become popular with everyone that's for sure. I think having some extra hands to help out definitely makes the boat ride a lot easier.
[It was a good thing that they weren't attacked by a sea monster or anything like that! Ryza was ready to offer a bomb or two if that had happened, but she prefers her boat trips to be more on the steady and easy side. Thankfully, she wasn't the type to get sea sick.
At Troy's question, she couldn't help and giggle in response. It's a good question to ask, she felt.]
Honestly? The more that I'm away from home, the more that I grow to appericate the familiar sights of it. I used to really hate living here whenever I was younger... But now that I've seen more of the world, I realize how good I've had it.
[Looking back at her past self, Ryza feels like she was a huge brat and a pain for everyone to deal with. She was always a little troublemaker in her circle of friends. It was a bit embarrassing, but now... She thinks that she can make it up to everyone with how much she's learned with alchemy.]
I think now's a better time than ever to come visit! Kurken Island used to be more closed off to visitors, but things have changed a lot since then. [A beat.] Are you feeling nervous about meeting everyone? I, uh... mentioned you to my parents, so that's gonna be something we'll have to deal with at some point.
[She sounds a bit sheepish about bringing up her parents. She's sure that they'll accept Troy, but she couldn't help those nerves of hers.]
